He was born April 12, 1928 in Hugo, Oklahoma to the late Frank Baker and the late Leola Nelson Baker.
Bob loved life and had a great sense of humor, he loved to make people laugh. But most of all he loved to play guitar and sing. Before his retirement from trucking and hauling chemicals for 28 years, living on the Texas Coast he played with several bands in that area. Since moving to Mena he “played” and “jammed” with many groups in and around Mena. Bob had been in ill health for 2 years and had to give up his favorite past time of “picking” and “grinning”. He will be sorely missed among his picking buddies and a host of friends.
He is survived by wife Mary of the home; daughters Sherri Kelch and husband J. R. of Lake Jackson, Texas, Deborah Carter of Longview, Texas; stepson Steve McCord and wife Cindy of Colleyville, Texas; brother Cecil “Tex” Baker of Glen Rose, Texas; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Maxine and son Bobby Wayne.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 19, 2013, @ 10:00 at Beasley Wood Chapel with Brother Ron Tilley and Brother Norm Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena. Visitation will be general.
