Carl Wayne Smith

Carl Wayne Smith age 81, of Smithville, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Carl was born on April 13, 1937 in Ludlow, Oklahoma to the late Sherman K. Smith and the late Dorcie Nelson Smith. He worked in Construction and for the McCurtain County Road Department for many years, Carl was an avid story teller and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He took pleasure hunting, fishing and listening to music. He liked working at the sawmill and was very active with the Choctaw Nation District 3 Seniors.  Above all he loved his family and they loved him in return. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Martha Smith of Smithville, Oklahoma.  Sons Ricky Wayne Smith and wife Connie of Smithville, Oklahoma; Marty Joe Smith of Smithville, Oklahoma.  Daughter Tammy Kay Spencer and husband Mark of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  Grandchildren Jennifer Jacobs and husband Travis of Smithville, Oklahoma; Melody Owens and husband Ethan of Smithville, Oklahoma; Twauna Williams, Shauna Williams and Clancey Williams of Durant, Oklahoma; Cali Towery and husband Mason of Broken Bow, Oklahoma

Scout Smith of Smithville, Oklahoma.  Step-Grandchildren Brock Marable, Raven Dorton, and Zath Marable.  Eleven great-grandchildren.  Sister Judy Steed of Mt. Vernon, Texas.  Brother-in-law Lee and Connie Williams.  Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Dorcie Smith, brothers, Wade and Dewey Smith, and sisters, Jewel Donica and Narvonna Hawthorne.

Funeral service is Friday, October 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Choctaw Community Center in Smithville. Interment will follow in the Ludlow Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Pallbearers are R.E. Hudson, Zath Marable, Jimmy Smith, Larry Smith, Grubby Smith, Brian Hawthorne, Paul Anderson, and Jerry Bohanan.  Honorary pallbearers are Don Hopper, Jimmy Williams Jerry Smith, and Ben Jordan.
