Friends and members of OLT have a rare opportunity to experience not one, but two exciting events for the public in the same week. First, on Wednesday, January 10th at 6:30 p.m., a free movie party will be hosted by Ouachita Little Theatre. The feature will be one of the most famously popular and critically acclaimed movies of all time, Casablanca.
OLT desires to bring fine classic films to Polk County to expose all generations, young and old, to movies that have inspired and influenced the entire industry of film making. Casablanca is a “must see” for anyone who loves movies. Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, this film was released in January 1943. OLT is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the film this month, which was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won three of them, including Best Picture. Donations are welcome, concession stand will be open.
The second opportunity is a live program on the OLT stage that is sure to be enjoyed by area music lovers. “Blend” is an acapella musical group of three young men who specialize in “Doo Wop” music. They are making their “Farewell Tour” through Arkansas and Ouachita Little Theatre was able to book a last-minute performance by this talented group of musicians. The show is being performed Thursday, January 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the OLT. Even though they specialize in classic songs of the 1950’s and ‘60’s, “Blend” also interprets modern songs from groups like U2, and has a strong repertoire of inspirational music. “Blend” has performed before on the OLT stage and their show was wildly popular and well received by the community. Advanced ticket sales are available at the OLT Business office weekdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Don’t miss this special chance to see “Blend” perform one of their final shows.
