Dr. Floyd Eugene Eddleman, age 84, of Mena passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He was born December 3, 1930 in Mena, Arkansas to the late Floyd Newton Eddleman and the late Ruby Cannon Eddleman. Gene served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a Professor of English at Texas Tech University. Gene was also an author of several books. He was a loving and kind brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by, sister, Helen Dellinger of Mena, Arkansas; brother, Clayton Eddleman and wife Lynn of Collierville, Tennessee; nieces and nephews: Sherri Aleshire of Mena, Arkansas, Jeff Eddleman of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Travis Eddleman of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, Mark Eddleman of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
D’Ann Verkamp of Charleston, Arkansas, Sarah Smith of Mena, Arkansas, Staci Smith of Mena, Arkansas, Calli Verkamp of Chicago, Illinois, Alyssa Raggio of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Hannah Verkamp of Charleston, Arkansas,
Jordan Eddleman of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Cami Eaton of Mena, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ruby Eddleman.
Funeral services are Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church in Mena with Brother Gary Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena. Visitation is general.
Pallbearers are Jeff Eddleman, Travis Eddleman, Mark Eddleman, Kevin Verkamp, Zach Raggio, Garry Aleshire, and Jason Farthing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Polk County Library.
