Edward Lee Dunn

Memorial service for Edward Lee Dunn, 97 of Lawton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma with Rev. Stan Paggett, pastor of the Cyril Peace Lutheran Church officiating.

Mr. Dunn passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in Lawton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Edward was born on September 27, 1920 in Murray County, Georgia to John Lee and Kaydell (Mantooth) Dunn. He grew up in Murray County where he attended school. Ed Married Anne Cobb in 1941 and they made Georgia their home. Edward was drafted into the United States Army and served in World War II. After the military, he and Anne continued to live in Georgia where he worked for an ice plant and a laundry and then began his career with Lockheed Air Craft, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. They then moved to Lillian, Alabama where they lived for many years, and then to Mena, Arkansas to be near their daughter. Mrs. Dunn passed away in 2012 and in 2014, Mr. Dunn moved to the Lawton Fort Sill Veterans Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was a free mason for 70 years and was given a 50 year pin from Dalton #105 in Georgia when he was 83 years old. He was also a 32 Degree Mason and a member of the York Rite. He was a member of the Nights Temple and finished his last few years as a Master Mason at the Dallas Lodge 128 in Mena, Arkansas, a member of Lodge 925 in Lillian, Alabama as well as being a member of YAARB Temple. He served as past president of the Optimist Club in Lillian, Alabama. He was also a Shriner.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Joyce and Russell Westbrook, of Mena, Arkansas; his son, Larry Lee Dunn, of Acworth, Georgia; sister, Catherine Mary Burns, of Dalton, Georgia; five grandchildren, Jennifer Camperud, Charles Edward Wittges, Richard Hood, Christopher Dunn, and Micah Dunn; five great grandchildren, Jessica Felder, Ciline Wittges, Kimberly Chewning, Amberly Hood, and Heather Bailey; and 19 great great grandchildren, Claire Blanchett, Kinsley Harrison, Yehna Chewning, Isaiah Chewning, Arsen Chewning, Alvin Chewning, Yoona Chewning, Sauhna Chewning, Kaylei Bailey, Kaegan Bailey, Cierra Whitington, MJ Dunn, Grant Dunn, Lane Dunn, Tate Dunn, Riley Dunn, Kyan Dunn, Caiteyn Dunn, and Sawyer Dunn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lee and Kaydell Dunn; his loving wife of 72 years, Anne Dunn; his daughter, Nina Marie Dunn; two brothers, Bradford Dunn and Talmadge Dunn; and two sisters, Ginny Jones and Ruth Dalton.
