The Al and Diann Gathright Endowment Grant was recently completed and endowed to the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain Foundation by a donation from Al and Diann Gathright.
The purpose of the endowment is to provide support the UA Rich Mountain Foundation Development Fund, help secure additional funding through grants or other means, enhance facilities, and support ongoing needs, programs, and services that are consistent with the mission of the College.
Al and Diann Gathright served the schools of Polk County from 1978-2010 in a variety of capacities. Since his retirement as high school principal of Mena High School in 2002, Al has served his community by working on trails and the improvement of Lake Ouachita in Montgomery County. He is also a board member for the Black Bass Coalition and Healthy Connections, Inc. Diann has served as an administrative team member for Dequeen-Mena Educational Cooperative, Rich Mountain Community College, and as superintendent of Mena Public Schools. She has also worked for Arkansas School Boards Association and led a leadership program sponsored by the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation – ScholAR. She continues to work in the education-related professional development arena.
