Governor Asa Hutchinson and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission presented grants totaling more than $8.8 million to 78 Arkansas communities and counties at a ceremony on Thursday, October 24th at the Arkansas State Capitol.
The grants fall into one of four programs administered by the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC): Arkansas Community and Economic Development Grant Program, Rural Services Block Grants, Rural Community Grants, and County Fair Building Grants.
Polk County received a grant for $159,939 to be used for the Senior Center from the Arkansas Community and Economic Development Grant funds. These funds originate from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. To be eligible for this program, communities must have a population of less than 50,000, and at least 51 percent of the persons benefitting from the project must be of low-to-moderate income.
The next cycle deadline for the Rural Community Grant Program and County Fair Building Grant Program begins March 5, 2020. For more information about grants administered by AEDC, visit www.ArkansasEDC.com or call 1-800-ARKANSAS.
