He was born March 28, 1936 in Mena, Arkansas, to Richard A. Carver and Frances Finks Carver. Bob carried many titles in life, including Teacher and Coach, but most knew him for his dealership, the owner and operator of Bob Carver Cars and Trucks. Bob was something of an icon in the community; he was on the Union Bank Board of Directors and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Lions and the Elks Clubs, but if anyone knew Bob, they knew his real passion was the Razorbacks. He was on the Stadium Commission in Little Rock and served as a spotter for the Hogs for 35 years. Bob was also a veteran, serving as Major in the Army National Guard. He will be greatly missed by his friends, and family, and all who had the pleasure of a friendly conversation or a heated chat about football. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by brothers Dr. Richard Carver of Mena, Arkansas, Michael Carver of Satellite Beach, Florida, David Carver of Woodside, California, Dr. Steve Carver of Santa Fe, New Mexico; sister Clayta Scott of Hot Springs, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews, and friends too great to mention.
He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Frances Carver; a brother Bill Carver; and a nephew Win Wardlaw.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mena with Reverend Gary Harrison officiating and Danny Thrailkill with comments.
