Using a grant from the Department of Arkansas Heritage, Polk County’s Quality of Life (http://qoloutreach.org/) will host Stephanie Tapley and the Voice of the Ouachitas in the Ouachita Center on the UARM campus at 1100 College Drive at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4. In addition to hearing local talent, listeners will hear holiday favorites with Arkansas ties for an hour-long performance, followed by a reception.
QOL President Bethany Hughes stated, “With Stephanie’s beautiful voice and leadership, this is a concert that will have something for everyone. You don’t want to miss it!” The lineup will include favorites with Arkansas ties such as “Frosty the Snowman,” “Oh Holy Night,” “Joy to the World,” “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” and “Silent Night.”
The Voice of the Ouachitas is a choir club at UARM that meets outside of class and work schedules. This year, the choir encompasses a diverse group of students. In addition to the regular choir members in the college’s traditional student population, they have representatives from soccer, softball, cosmetology, and esports. This year the choir members chose the Christmas songs, many of which have Arkansas ties and made an eclectic genre of music that everyone will love. Tapley stated, “I hope when you attend our concert you will get a chance to see the talented and unique personalities of our members and get a taste of an Arkansas Christmas!”
