USPS postal scam

The Mena post office, and possibly others throughout the area, are receiving several calls and questions regarding a scam message that is going out via text or social media. The message uses a graphic similar to the USPS official logo. It reads:

“The USPS package has arrived at the warehouse and cannot be delivered due to incomplete address information.

Please confirm your address in the link within 12 hours.”

It then has a button with the link in it or asks you to enter the link into your browser: usps.uspsbp.com

It finishes with, “The US Postal team wishes you a wonderful day” [sic]

The text message we received is from +639151289469, which the country code 63 is in the Philippines. The number “9” that follows the country code means that the call is going to a cell phone in the Philippines.

The postal service in Mena said that the postal service would never contact someone in the manner this message is being sent.

With the holiday season upon us and the post office as well as other carriers about to become extremely busy for the next four to five weeks, tis the season for scammers to try and trick people out of their money and personal information.
