The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of February 24 – March 2, 2014. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
February 24, 2014
Report from complainant on Polk 111 near the Acorn community of being harassed by an individual. Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.
Arrested was Justin Dees, 26, of Corpus Christi, TX, on a Warrant for Probation Violation.
February 25, 2014
Report of a disturbance on Polk 28 near Hatfield led to the arrest of Billie C. Jennings, 53, of Mena, on a Charge of Possessing an Instrument of Crime.
Report from a business on Hornbeck Avenue in Hatfield of the theft of motor fuel in the amount of $38.36. Investigation continues.
Arrested was William L. Copelin, 19, of Mena, on a Warrant for Theft of Property.
February 26, 2014
Arrested was Marcus O. Goodner, 19, of Hatfield, on a Warrant for Theft of Property.
Report from Kansas City Southern Railroad of damage to crossing lights, totaling losses at $150.00. Investigation continues.
February 27, 2014
Arrested was Jared L. Whitaker, 19, of Mena, on a Warrant for Theft of Property.
February 28, 2014
Arrested was Jody L. Carter, 29, of Mena, on a Montgomery County Warrant.
Arrested was Marcus O. Goodner, 19, of Hatfield, on a Warrant for Criminal Trespass and Theft of Property.
Report of an unruly 15-year-old Mena male led to the youth being issued a Juvenile Citation for Disorderly Conduct. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.
Arrested was William L. Copelin, 19, of Mena, on a Warrant for Criminal Trespass and Theft of Property.
March 1, 2014
Report of a vehicle off the road led to the arrest of Levon A. Hammond, 26, of Mena, on Charges of Public Intoxication and No Driver’s License.
Arrested was Alberto Zamarripa, 39, of Mena, on a Warrant for Violation of a Protection Order.
Report from complainant on 10th Street in Mena of being assaulted. Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.
March 2, 2014
Report from walk-in complainant of problems concerning custody issues. Officer advised all parties of legal options.
Traffic stop on Highway 246 West near Hatfield led to the arrest of Chelsey M. Sirmon, 21, of Hatfield, on Charges of Driving Left of Center and Public Intoxication. Also arrested was James E. Carver, 21, of Haworth, OK, on a Charge of Public Intoxication.
Traffic stop on Highway 246 West near Hatfield led to the arrest of Thomas H. Peek, 33, of Wickes, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.
Traffic stop on Highway 246 West near Hatfield led to the arrest of Mark L. Wesson, 53, of Mena, on Charges of DWI, Driving Left of Center and No Seatbelt.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked two vehicle accidents this week.
