The Arkansas State Association of Emblem Clubs met at Hot Springs Elks Lodge for Convention and the Installation of Officers May 2nd and 3rd. This year Mena Emblem Club #470 will be at the helm for state activities.
Jr. Past President from Hot Springs, Sharon Kelsay, passed the gavel to new President Linda Deaton of Mena.
Nancy Harris of Hot Springs, President Elect of the National Association of Emblem Clubs, was in attendance as was Melody Cathey, Arkansas State Advisor. Melody and a contingent of members from Alabama chapters were honored guests.
The yearly State Memorial Service was conducted with Jean Webb, of Mena, a long time Emblem member being honored.
Pam McDaniel of the State Scholarship Committee awarded the State Scholarship to Lena White of Hatfield, grandmother of the winner James Cameron White who was unable to attend due to school schedule.
All business was attended to and then the fun began with a lovely banquet and skits from the Hot Springs Variety Show for entertainment. The convention was a great success and something the ladies all look forward to each year.
