After providing daycare and pre-school services since 1996, Ray and Linda Willard, owners of Mena’s Education Station, have announced its closure. The couple explained that they have sold the business and property to PCDC.
“It’s hard to find the words,” began Linda. “We have so much gratitude to this outstanding community and feel privileged to have been trusted to care for their children… We feel like a part of so many families.” Linda continued to say that the parents of this community are stellar in their devotion and love they have for their children. “It’s touched us in so many ways.”
The Willards plan to, at this time, remain in Mena.
Mary Dixon of Polk County Developmental Center confirmed that they have purchased the Education Station property and will be able to add 17 more infants/preschool disabled children to their Jumpstart program. “We’ll have an entire building dedicated to physical therapy and will be adding staff as well.” Dixon added, “Also, we can add 26 more regular daycare children.”
The classrooms and exercise area will be moved to the old Jumpstart building for the adult clients.
She said they plan a ribbon cutting soon and hope to host an upcoming Chamber Coffee so that the public will have an opportunity to come and observe.

PCDC provides a wonderful service to the people of our area. So glad they are able to buy this build and so glad the adults will be able to use the former building used by the very young.
I also appreciate how they offer citizens the opportunity to recycle items! My Thursday trip to the PCDC Recycle Center has become a part of my weekly ritual.
