WASHINGTON – Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) issued the following statement Tuesday (Feb. 23) in response to President Barack Obama’s announced plan to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and bring terrorist prisoners to American soil:
“The president has put the interests of extremists ahead of Americans,” Westerman said.“His announced plan to shut down the prison at Guantanamo Bay is an olive branch to terrorists, explicitly inviting terrorists to our shores who would like nothing more than to inflict harm on Americans. Congress will fight the president’s efforts to appease ISIS and others bent on killing Americans and destroying our way of life.”
