The Polk County Sheriff’s Office will once again be sponsoring the annual Drug Take Back Event on Saturday, April 30th. They will be located at the front door of the Polk County Courthouse from the hours of 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. to collect prescription medications that are out of date or are no longer needed.
In a statement released by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, they said, “This event is a great way for our citizens to take part in the fight against the abuse of prescription medications that has become so prevalent in our community. These drugs will all be destroyed in a manner that will not harm the environment nor run the chance of falling back into the wrong hands.”
If you can’t make this date, there is a Drug Drop Box in the lobby of the Polk County Detention Center that is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For any questions, call 479-394-2511.
