Boozman to Announce New AmeriCorps Funding for Arkansas
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman will hold a media conference call Wednesday, June 15 at 2:00 EST/ 1:00 CST to announce new grants for Arkansas that will support AmeriCorps members serving the community with local organizations.
Boozman will be joined by Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that administers AmeriCorps. CNCS engages millions of Americans in service through its AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, Social Innovation Fund, and Volunteer Generation Fund programs, and leads the President’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve.
Over the past two decades, more than 980,000 Americans have served in AmeriCorps providing more than 1.3 billion hours of service, and earning more than $3.1 billion in education scholarships. 532 AmeriCorps members serve in 515 locations across the Arkansas.
