Mena High School hosted Mena Man Camp Thursday and Friday, July 21st and 22nd.
Schools participating in this year’s Man Camp were the Mena Bearcats, the Mena Junior Bearcats, the Mansfield Tigers, and the Horatio Lions.
Camp started Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and lasted until nearly dark. After a meal and entertainment, the coaches talked to the players about doing things right and building Christian character. The camp featured various football related drills and competitions.
The Bearcats traveled to Dover High School Tuesday to participate in the Dover Pirates’ Man Camp.
“We’re doing things now in the summer that we did after one or two weeks when we were playing,” says Harper. These camps along with the summer conditioning program called “FastCats” help get not only the Bearcats ready to go but also helps athletes of all ages.”
This week’s Man Camp at Dover will wrap up the summer program for the Bearcats who will start regular football practice the first week in August, building toward the Mena season opener at DeQueen Friday, September 2nd.
