Newly elected Sheriff Scott Sawyer was officially sworn into his new position on Monday, January 2nd, as was incumbent County Clerk Terri Harrison, and newly elected District Judge Danny Thrailkail. The trio was sworn-in by Circuit Judge Jerry Ryan while surrounded by family and close friends.
Incoming and incumbent officials were officially sworn into office for 2017 by County Clerk Terri Harrison on Tuesday, January 3rd at the Polk County Courthouse. Those elected officials include: Brandon Ellison, County Judge; Jovan Thomas, Assessor; Tanya Fretz, County Treasurer; Michelle Heath-Schnell, Circuit Clerk; Andy Barron, Constable for Center Township; Gene Hendrix, Constable for Gap Springs Township; Jim Corazzo, Constable for Cove Township; Kris Lyle for Acorn Township; Ray Hagler, Constable for Eagle Township; Doyne Turner, Constable for White/Ozark Township; Harold Coogan, Tri-Lakes Regional Water District; and Brian Bowser, County Coroner.
On Tuesday night, Justices of the Peace were sworn in at the Polk County Quorum Court. Justices of the Peace are: Benjamin Finley, JP District 1; Jim Neugent, JP District 2; Harold Coogan, JP District 3; Margo Kimp, JP District 4; Troy Lunsford, JP District 5; Terry Terrell, JP District 6; Tommy Floyd, JP District 7; Terry Scott, JP District 8; Basil Kesterson, JP District 9; Mitchell Tidwell, JP District 10; and Tawana Gilbert, JP District 11.
