After defeating the Cossatot Jr. High Eagles last Tuesday by a score of 49-26, the Mena Jr. High Bearcats took on the Nashville Jr. High Scrappers Thursday, January 19th, at Jim Rackley Gymnasium in Mena.
Both Nashville and Mena started off very slow on the offensive side of the game during the first quarter, as the Jr. Scrappers scored the only five points of the quarter, to take a 5-0 lead into the second. The Jr. Bearcats picked up their game a bit in the second, as they scored seven to Nashville’s twelve points, to trail by ten at halftime with the score 17-7 in favor of the Jr. Scrappers.
Mason Brotherton led the Jr. Bearcats with 4 points at halftime, as number twenty-one for Nashville led the Jr. Scrappers with 7 points.
Nashville came out shooting the ball well in the third quarter, as they outscored the Jr. Bearcats 17-8, to make the score 34-15 in favor of the Jr. Scrappers going into the final quarter of play. The Jr. Scrappers didn’t let up in the fourth either, holding Mena to nine points and scoring fourteen of their own, to make the final score 48-24 Nashville.
Marc Wilson led the Mena Jr. Bearcats with 5 points, as Mason Brotherton and number twenty-three added on 4 points, Jeremiah Swint – 3, and Zane Stephens, Andrew Graves, David Grenier, and Eli Cook – 2.
