The Mena Fire Department was dispatched to an unoccupied residence at approximately 6:40 p.m. Monday evening on Violet Street behind the The Crossing Church. Significant brush and tall grass surrounded the house almost making it impossible to see from the road.
Three trucks promptly responded and quickly had the fire contained. The call was made from a neighbor who had observed smoke coming from the structure. The property owner is unknown at this time.
Fire Chief John Puckett said it was unoccupied and no electrical power on. He said the exact cause is unknown at this time but suspects that it could have been some kids playing or possibly even a transient.
