BY TAMMY TAYLOR –

The assessment requires singing three prepared pieces of music, one of which must be a cappella, in front of three judges. After performance of the prepared pieces, each choir must sight read a piece of music for adjudication.
The Bearcat Chorus earned a composite Division I Superior rating for their prepared pieces and a Division II Excellent rating for sight reading. Their superior scores qualified the chorus to compete at state choral performance assessment for the first time ever. The Spotlight Singers earned three Division I Superior ratings for their prepared pieces and a Division I Superior in sight reading. The ensemble received a perfect score from one judge on their prepared music. The Spotlight Singers also qualified to compete at state choral performance assessment which will be at UCA in Conway on April 12.
The Bearcat Chorus and Spotlight Singers are directed by Ferroll “Tammy” Taylor. Melanie Musick served as accompanist.
