(MENA) The members of the Mountain Meadow Chapter 22 of the Hatfield Order of the Eastern Star and the Mena Chapter 243 presented donations of various food items to the Nations Arkansas National Guard Armory in Mena on Wednesday morning.
The donated food will be used for a military veteran family in the Polk County area that is struggling with providing essential food for the family of four.
Sargeants Chris Stripling and Mike Inglis from the Mena armory accepted the food on behalf of their brethren veterans.
Later Wednesday morning, both chapters presented blankets and stuffed animals to the Mena Fire Department and the City of Mena.
According to Mena Fire Chief Steve Egger, the department is “very appreciative and grateful for the donations and can help ease the trauma involved” where a family encounters tragedy or a major setback in their lives.
