BY BARBARA M. TOBIAS –
Since we can’t bring you the real thing, the next membership meeting at the gallery will feature a DVD on Michelangelo’s Bacchus and Pietŕ. And, as always, you do NOT have to be a member to attend. It will begin at 5:30 pm on Monday, February 17; admission is free.
The DVD is a 30-minute section of a series by Professor William E. Wallace who teaches in the Department of Art History and Archeology at Washington University in St. Louis. He discusses these two iconic pieces by the master sculptor and shows a series of photographs of each. It’s the next best thing to a trip to Italy to see the originals.
Professor Wallace is both an entertaining speaker and extremely knowledgeable about Michelangelo’s career and work.
There will be time for discussion after the DVD and then a short business meeting.
