The Mena/Polk County Chamber of Commerce held their annual banquet on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Ouachita Center and entertained a full house. Sock Monkey Improv kept the crowd in stitches with their comedy routine and Shannon Hunter worked her auction magic to help raise money for the Chamber’s $6,000 worth of yearly scholarships.
In community awards, Union Bank was named as the Business of the Year for their constant support of the community. Teena Brown was honored as Volunteer of the Year and the Mena Lioness Lions were named the Citizens of the Year. Best Renovation/Beautification was given to Queen Wilhelmina State Park and Best New Construction was awarded to the Polk County Extension Services 4-H Building.
The Pulse will have a special 12-page section out this Wednesday, in print and online, from the event.
