Two days left to file for Polk County candidacy

There is still time to file for Polk County office candidacy for either Justice of the Peace or for Constable with either The Polk County Republican Committee or the Democratic Party of Polk County, Arkansas.

 

The Republican Party filing will continue in the basement office of the Polk County Courthouse.

Filing and fees:

  • Justice of the Peace – $250
  • Constable – $100

Hours and remaining dates to file:

  • 9 a.m. to Noon, Monday, Nov. 13
  • 9 a.m. to Noon, Tuesday, Nov. 14

After filing with the county Republican Party, candidates must provide written evidence of filing fee payment and additional paperwork to the Polk County Clerk before noon on Nov. 14.

 

Filing for the Democratic Party will be held at the Quorum Court meeting room at the Polk County Office Complex at 606 Pine Ave. in Mena.

The Democratic Party filing fees:

  • Justice of the Peace – $30
  • Constable – $50

Hours and remaining dates to file:

  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13
  • 9:30 a.m. to Noon, Tuesday, Nov. 14

The Democratic Party stated they will accept cash or check for payment. No cards. Once a potential candidate fills out the paperwork, he or she will take their receipt showing proof they filed. They will then receive paperwork from the Polk County Clerk’s office. Contact the party for questions to do with filing 479-234-7966.

The fee for membership on the County Democratic Committee is $20 for two years. Committee membership can also be filed at the monthly meeting of the Democratic Party, at Papa’s Mexican Café, 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13
