The following information was received from Mena Police Department for the week of April 27 – May 3, 2014. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
April 27, 2014
A Mena woman was cited for domestic battery after she was seen disciplining her child in public.
April 28, 2014
Christa M. Castillo, 37, of Mena was arrested for theft-of-property (shoplifting) after officers were called to a local retail store.
April 29, 2014
A woman reported that she had ordered a cell phone and that someone had stolen it from a mailbox. Case is pending.
Officers responded to a verbal altercation at a nursing home. The parties involved were the children of one of the residents of the home. The offending parties were ordered off the property by the staff.
April 30, 2014
A local woman reported that someone had stolen a tazer gun from her purse. Case is pending interview of all subjects involved.
May 1, 2014
Employees at a convenience store reported a gas skip. Case is pending.
May 2, 2014
Two Mena men who had been warned in writing to stay away from a local retail store were located in the store. They were escorted off the property. No charges have been filed at this time.
May 3, 2014
A Mena woman reported that she is being harassed. The suspect is a local man. Case is pending interview of suspect.
Officers completed an additional nine reports and worked eight accidents.
