SUBMITTED –
This fall, junior and senior high school students across Arkansas have the opportunity to take part in a writing contest that will not only expand their skills, but will also help promote mountain biking tourism in the state.
Sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism and the Arkansas Department of Education, the contest asks students to submit a 500-1,000 word essay on “what they love about mountain biking in Arkansas.” By entering, students will compete for a $1,000 mountain bike package (bike and related gear) to be donated by The Walton Family Foundation.
The package will be presented during the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) World Summit in Bentonville November 10-12, 2016. Weekend lodging and meals for the winner and a guest will be provided courtesy of the state’s hospitality industry.
Mountain biking is one of the fastest growing outdoor activities in the country, and Arkansas is among the leading states in providing trails for mountain bikers. Travelers from across the globe have visited Arkansas to ride our trails, bolstering our state’s economy.
