The Mena/Polk County Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights was held in downtown Mena Friday night, December 9th, with hundreds lining the streets to catch a glimpse of this year’s floats, gather up candy, and of course, see the big jolly guy in red, Santa Clause.
The parade was led off by the Mena Lioness as grand marshals escorted in a 1922 Moon car courtesy of Vintage Tin Restorations, followed by Team Mena Flashcats and the Polk County Marching Band, comprised of more than 170 band students from Cossatot River, Acorn, and Mena.
Mena Regional Health System’s float came in first place in the Best in Show Category. Nidec won second and Penuel Assembly of God, third. Elite Home Health was awarded Best Theme Representation and Don’s EZ Pay won Chamber Favorite.
Following the parade, everyone headed over to Janssen Park where they were entertained with a Christmas Concert by Lana Gail and Gail Force. The Mena Advertising and Promotion Commission ended the night with the annual fireworks display and official lighting of Janssen Park.
