Just 4 Fun Players will have a casting call for the summer dinner theatre production of ‘A Bad Year for Tomatoes’, a comedy written by John Patrick. Auditions will be at Mena Mountain Resort on Thursday, April 27, at 7:00 PM and Saturday, April 29, at 10:00 AM.
The play is about an older, successful actress who moves to a small town to be away from ‘her public’ and have time to write her autobiography and fulfill a lifetime dream of growing tomatoes. After being overwhelmed by nosy neighbors, she invents a crazy, mad sister whom she locks in an upstairs bedroom to supposedly scare off any visitors. Between the local dim-witted handyman wanted to court the insane sister and the neighbors wanting to convert her, things go downhill. When the actress supposedly sends her sister away, she’s accused of murder. This funny farce will be performed at Mena Mountain Resort on June 30 and July 8. Sample scripts may be picked up prior to auditions at the resort’s front desk.
Play characters include the actress/mad sister over forty; her agent/romantic interest, also over forty; the handyman, any adult male; the local witch, any age; three female neighbors, any age; and the sheriff, any age. For further information, call Tim Hesse at 243-0042.
