
Oden was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers, Sidney Gentry and James Gentry; his sisters, Janice Stuckey, Opal Ketner, Janelle Bush, and Nettie Belle Blackman; and his daughter-in-law, Vickie Gentry.
He is survived by his sisters, Willie Shaw from Mathis, Texas; Myrlene Logan from Burleson, Texas; and Lorraine Smith from Mena, Arkansas.
Oden was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He was a veteran who proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. On February 12, 1945, in Wickes, Arkansas, Oden married Onetta Roberts who became his beloved wife of more than 72 years.
Oden is lovingly remembered by his five children, Larry Gentry and his wife Glenda of Grannis Arkansas, Steve Gentry and his wife Pat of Grannis, Arkansas, Monte Gentry of Sherman, Texas, Anna McClane and her husband Mike of Houston, Texas, and Terry Gentry and his wife Melanie of Grannis, Arkansas.
Oden had seven grandchildren, Brett Gentry of San Antonio, Texas; Katrina Brown of Euless, Texas; Monte Gentry, Jr. of Texarkana, Texas; Larry Gentry II of Sherman, Texas; Richard Gentry of Grannis, Arkansas; Susan Cox of Abilene, Texas; and Rachel Garza of Houston, Texas; eight great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
A funeral service to honor Oden and his life will be held at Wickes Church of Christ located on Highway 71, Wickes, Arkansas on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Grannis Cemetery in Grannis, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
