She was born on Saturday, August 20, 1921 in a place close to Mena, Arkansas named Posey Hollow.
She was a member of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Big Fork Arkansas. She was the matriarch of our family. She lived her life for her three sons and taught them to be honest, strong and to always try and do the right thing. She will never be forgotten for her beautiful spirit and kindness. She loved crocheting, sewing, playing the guitar, singing, reading the bible, listening to gospel music and copying and sharing recipes. A special thank you to Seasons hospice for all of their support to Pauline and her family the last two years, and to the Brown House for helping us in her final months.
Pauline was preceded in death by parents, Ola Brown Rhodes and Colonel Bascom Rhodes, husband, Walter James, sons, Charles and Wayne James, brother, Luther Rhodes and sisters Josephine Meschnig and Ellen Sutphin.
She is survived by her youngest son, Bobby James and wife Noelia; daughters-in-law, Josie James Brown and Jean James; sister-in-law, Minnie Bisbee; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. at the Witherspoon Cemetery in Vandervoort under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
