Mena Water Utilities will be conducting a water main flushing program during the week of Monday, October 7th through Friday, October 11th. Flushing is done as part of a scheduled preventative maintenance program to help maintain good water quality and to improve the water flow in your neighborhood. Mena Water Utilities will flush the lines on the south of Highway 71 including the Nunley and Board Camp areas on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday and Thursday, the lines on the north side of Highway 71 will be flushed.
As the lines in your area are flushed, you may experience a temporary reduction in water pressure. You may also see some color, cloudiness, and/or sand in your water. It is also possible that there will be a slight change in the taste or odor of your water. These conditions are normal during flushing activities and only temporary. If you experience any of these changes in your water, Mena Water Utilities recommends that you refrain from washing light colored laundry and that you flush the pipes of your home. Flushing of your home’s pipes is accomplished by opening your front outside hose bib until it runs clear and has no noticeable taste or odor.
Mena Water Utilities regrets any inconvenience the flushing may cause you. If you have any questions, or if you experience any persistent water quality problems as a result of this maintenance program, please call Mena Water Utilities at 479-394-2761.
