Bearcat Foundation Announces New Board Members

Bearcat Foundation, Inc. is very excited to announce the three newest BFI Board members-Aarika Cox, Amy Hernandez and Britt Hobson. These three families are proud supporters of Ladycat and Bearcat athletic programs. They look forward to making a difference in our young athletes and join the board with existing members Gretchen Cannon, Mandy Godfrey, Brian Hensley and Ty Plunkett. They have huge holes to fill as they will be filling the seats of Angela Gilbert, PT Plunkett and soon to be Mandy Godfrey. These three seats have rolled off and BFI can’t thank them enough for the many hours of dedication and hard work for our athletes and school system. BFI is looking forward to the new school year with many new exciting things to come

Aarika Cox joins BFI as a Mena graduate in 2007. After graduating she lived in Hot Springs for 10 years then moved home in 2017. She works in the special education department at MHS. Her husband, Chris is an A&P mechanic at Hampton Aviation and they have been married 12 years. Chris and Aarika have three future Ladycats Jayden, Avery and Taylor. Aarika said, “We are so happy to be able to raise our girls as Ladycats. Our schools are the best and we want our girls to have the same pride in them that we do!”

New BFI board member, Amy Hernandez graduated in 2003 from Hatfield Public School and has lived in the community her whole life. Making a big transition, her family moved in 2017 to the Mena School District. Amy started working for Cossatot River School District in 2013 and her husband, Salomon is the Plant Manager at Martin Marietta in Hatton. Salomon and Amy have been married for 13 years and have four children Madison, Jocelyn, Jonas and Liam. “Being involved where my children attend school is essential. I love our community and being able to support our students and student athletes is one way to help give back.”

BFI welcomes Britt Hobson to the board. Britt is a Mena alumni graduating from MHS in 2003. He and his wife Ladatha lived in Arkadelphia until 2011 when they moved back to Mena. Britt started working for Rich Mountain Electric when returning home and Ladatha is a FCS teacher at MHS. This year marks their 10th anniversary and they have two children, Adalee and Heath. Britt stated, “As a Mena alumnus, I have always been a Bearcat. I take great pride in being a part of our community through the school and student athletes.”
