A local man is on the run following a shooting incident on Monday, October 31st, near Acorn. The Polk County Sheriff’s Department issued a BOLO (Be On the Look-Out) on Monday night just before 9 p.m. for Ed Martin, age 46, of Mena. Martin is a Caucasian male, 6’2”, approximately 160 lbs. He fled the scene following the incident and was last seen driving a 2003 Maroon Chevy Malibu, 4-door, with Arkansas license plate 113-TKP, in the vicinity of 76 East. His direction of travel was unknown at that time.
The Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that Martin is the suspect in the shooting that occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Monday evening that injured one person. The victim, a 42-year old white male, was transported to Mena Regional Health System, before being taken to another hospital for surgery.
Martin is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous. Sheriff-Elect Scott Sawyer advised that if you observe Ed Martin, do not approach him. If you see Martin or have information on his whereabouts, please contact your local law enforcement, or the Polk County Sheriff’s Department at 479-394-2511.
