Washington, D.C.— Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement after Senate Democrats blocked Cloture on the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill:
“It’s disappointing that Senate Democrats once again blocked the Energy and Water Appropriations bill from moving forward. I support this bill; it’s critical to our water and energy infrastructure and I believe it should move forward. That’s why I’ve continually offered to work with Senate Democrats to find common ground on my amendment to block taxpayer money from going to Iran. Their dogged opposition to an amendment that simply codifies the administration’s previously stated policy not to buy any more heavy water from the Iranians is perplexing and continues to raise the question of whether President Obama is being straight with the American people and how much more this president wishes to fund Iran’s terrorist activities.”
