Polk County Assessor Jovan Thomas is reminding citizens to have their property assessed by May 31st. By Arkansas law, any assessments done after May 31st will receive a 10% late penalty.
There are three ways to assess your personal property: You can stop by the Polk County Assessors Office, located inside the Courthouse; go online to www.ScoutAssess.com; or call 479-394-8121.
Taxes are payable March 1st through October 15th, however, before you pay your personal property taxes, check to see if you are receiving the Arkansas Homestead Tax Credit on your real estate.
The Homestead Tax Credit gives up to $350 of property tax credit to those who are eligible. To learn more, contact the Assessor’s Office.
