Deborah Ann Hendricks Pierce, age 66, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Born in Fort Lee, VA, on June 14, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Patsy Hendricks.
Mrs. Pierce touched countless lives throughout her career as a teacher. She taught all ages, including Kindergarten classes at Acorn School in Mena, AR, and eventually retired from Christiana High School in Newark, DE. Each student who passed through her classroom held a special place in her heart. In retirement, she enjoyed doing needlework, playing piano, spending time with friends, and was deeply devoted to her family.
Debby is survived and deeply missed by her husband of 38 years, Kenneth Pierce; her daughter, Sara Pierce Milburn and her husband, David; and three grandchildren, Coleman, Jackson and Addison Janusz. She is blessed with a large extended family, whom she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, Debby was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy D. Hendricks.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Liberty Cemetery, Board Camp, AR. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held on Monday, February 20, 2017, in Elkton, MD, for her local family and friends.
Flowers are welcome, as are donations to Paws for Veterans.
