On Tuesday, October 24th, Coach Cartwright’s Cossatot Eagles basketball team hosted the Oden Timberwolves for their season opener on Stevenson Court at Cossatot River High School.
Brandon Lewis started the game off with two straight three-pointers for Oden, to give the Timberwolves an early 6-0 lead, but the Eagles went on to outscore Coach Selby’s team 11-7 in the first quarter. Taking an 11-7 lead in the second, Cossatot played very good defense and held the Timberwolves to only four points in the second quarter. Going into halftime, the Eagles of Cossatot led Oden 28-11.
Juan Trinidad, Cody Brown, and Brayden Smith all led the Eagles with 6 points at the half, as Brandon Lewis led Oden with 6.
Garrett Watkins and Cody Brown scored eight points each for the Eagles in the third quarter, to help their team outscore the Timberwolves 17-10, and take a twenty-four point, 45-21, lead into the final quarter of play. In the fourth quarter, thirty-three total offensive points were scored, as the Timberwolves outscored Cossatot 17-16. However, the Eagles hung on to win by twenty-three, 61-38.
Aaron Baker led the Timberwolves with 13 points, as Zach Mayo added on 7 points, Brandon Lewis 6 points, Majjor White 5 points, Gabriele Comanducci 4 points, and Brian Kha 3 points.
Cody Brown led the Cossatot Eagles with 18 points on the night, while Garrett Watkins scored 10 points, Coy Frachiseur 8 points, Brayden Smith 7 points, Juan Trinidad 6 points, Kolby Frachiseur 4 points, Trenton Rosson and Brian Strother 3 points, and Drayvon Brock 2 points.
