Mrs. Elizabeth Amberzine Brown Brewer, age 96, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, in Mena, Arkansas. She was born November 17, 1927, in Polk County, Arkansas, to the late Ala Edwin and Ellamae (Morrison) Brown.
Betty loved the Lord, and with her husband, had three children, adopted three children and helped 510 foster children through the state of Texas and the state of Arkansas. She always believed there was room for one more.
She sang and played piano for every church she attended over the years, right up until her health required full-time care. Many Saturday nights were spent at various churches enjoying the singings and sharing her talents with them. She had never particularly liked animals, but in her later life came to care for them and loved her Momma Cat dearly. While she had other jobs, her most fulfilling was as a social worker for the State of Arkansas helping even more kids on their journey to adulthood … it was her passion and her life’s mission.
Mrs. Brewer is preceded in death by her father, Ala Edwin Brown; mother, Ellamae (Morrison) Brown; her husband, S.I. Brewer; sons, Jimmy Brewer and Sammy Brewer; son of the heart, Ronnie Peel; brothers, James Earl Wheat, James Elwood Wheat, Alfred “Buddy” Brown, Lonnie C. Brown, and Ala Edwin Brown Jr.; and by her sisters, Dorothy Brown Davis and Ellamae Greene.
