Polk County will have a couple of extra options for lunch on Friday, March 15, either fish or barbecue, all for worthy causes.
Elite Hospice-Mena
Elite Hospice will be serving up fish at their fish fry for the Hospice Promise Foundation. The fundraiser will be taking place at Mena Church of God, 2771 Hwy. 88 East, near the golf course from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For $15 you get fish, french fries, beans, coleslaw, bottled water and a brownie. You can pick up your order or have it delivered if you are located in Mena. Pastor Mark Lyle will be frying the fish.
They will be accepting cash or checks only, made out to Elite Hospice.
They recommend ordering in advance, but stated that it’s first come, first served for those who want to show up at the church. They will also be accepting donations. The Mena Lioness Lions Club will have a BBQ lunch fundraiser for the Backpack Program, which provides food for children in need that might otherwise have nothing to eat when they are not in school receiving breakfast and lunch. The program provides meals during the weekends or school breaks.
The fundraiser will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mena, located at 501 Ninth Street at the corner of Port Arthur and across from Janssen Park. Orders can be picked up starting at 2. Call or text 479-234-1351 or 479-2334-1138 to pre-order. Delivery is available for 10 or more orders.
For $10 you get a pulled pork barbecue sandwich, bag of chips, a cookie and bottled water. You can also walk up and order. First come, first served.
