The Extension Homemakers raised the funds through a quilt raffle held in conjunction with the Ouachita Quilt Show. In thanking club members for their very generous contribution, Chambers noted that EHC members also contributed the materials for the quilt, pieced the quilt, and quilted it. “All of us on the Single Parent Scholarship Fund board are very thankful for the dedication and hard work that made this contribution possible. In return, we’ll work hard to invest funds wisely in Polk County single parents,” Chambers said.
After last week’s Pinning and Capping Ceremony for graduating nurses, Charla Hollin, Chair of Rich Mountain Community College’s Allied Health Department, congratulates new LPN Katherine Williams. To help with college tuition and fees, Ms. Williams received a Single Parent Scholarship, which she credits for making it possible for her to complete the nursing program. Ms. Williams delightedly reports that she has a nursing job and is looking forward to her nursing career.
