Faith Lynch of Wickes, Arkansas announced that the GPS Research Group of Historic Cossatot River School District (CRSD) has received a $500 grant from Delta Kappa Gamma Society International through the Kappa State Education Foundation of Arkansas.
Members of the GPS Research Group are Faith Lynch, of Wickes; David Frachiseur, of Grannis; Janice Kelly, of Vandervoort and Cove; Royce Lee Pate, of Umpire.
The group researched historic schools, post offices and cemeteries that lie within the CRSD in south Polk County and north Howard County. They found 104 schools, 70 cemeteries and 34 post offices.
The group then published a map with the GPS locations of these historical places along with their histories.
Delta Kappa Gamma donated the grant to help with printing expenses of the map. They also donated 25 maps to each of the four campuses within the CRSD. The research group is grateful to Leta Boswell of Delta Kappa Gamma of Nashville for her interest in this project.
These maps are for sale at Union Bank and its branches, First National Bank and its branches, First State Bank and its branches, and Umpire Grocery Store. Pictured below is Lynch (left) with Cindi Watkins, librarian of CRSD High School Cossatot River School District.
