Frank C. Bainum Post #4451 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), has launched a military support program for the local Charlie Company Unit of the Army National Guard based on Morrow Street in Mena. The Adopt-A-Unit program is a national program involving more than 121,000 military and family members that are actively supported by VFW Posts and Auxiliaries.
Included in the Adopt-A-Unit program, there will be family days, welcome home and deployment events, holiday events, community projects, and direct assistance such as lawn care, auto repairs, and renovations to help accommodate a wounded service member.
There is a large network of free resources available for military members and their families. The local National Guard Unit is expected to deploy to the Horn of Africa in 2017.
Linda Johnson, Commander of VFW said, “We always support our local guard unit and our community and we want to continue to support them before, during, and after their deployment.”
