BY BARBARA M. TOBIAS –
For July, Mena Art Gallery is featuring an exhibit of art in any media: sculpture, photography, painting, drawing, and fine crafts of all sorts. The check-in date for entries is Wednesday, July 2, from 10 am to 4 pm, so you have about two-and-a-half weeks to finish your current project and get it ready to hang.
You can find more information as well as an entry form on the gallery website: www.MenaArtGallery.org. Click on “Open Show” under “Exhibits” in the left-hand menu. Or you can pick up an entry form at the gallery during regular gallery hours: 11 am to 2 pm Tuesdays, 10 am to 3 pm Wednesdays through Saturdays. If you have not already seen the exhibit of Bill Garrison’s work, it’s worth the trip in to pick up your entry form just to see it. He’s an extremely accomplished landscape artist working primarily in Arkansas.
The reception for the open show will be Saturday, July 5, 2014, from 1 to 3 pm. Come, talk to the other artists, see what is going on in the art scene in Mena, enjoy the coffee and cookies, and stroll around to see what your neighbors have done lately. We are fortunate here in Mena to have a vibrant and growing community of artists, most of whom display their work at the Gallery.
If you can’t make it for the reception, the exhibit will be up through July 29.
