(MENA) Mena High School Band honored its outstanding members and recognition of its Seniors, at their Awards Banquet held Saturday evening at First Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall.
Christopher Thompson and Fisher Neufeld won the Distinguished John Phillip Sousza Award, normally awarded to one outstanding student bandmember; but, it occasionally awards co-winners.
Tilman Portwood won the Directors Award, Christopher Thompson also was selected Band King, while Emily Sorge was selected Band Queen.
Fisher Neufeld was selected Outstanding Jazz Musician, Daniel Green was named as the Outstanding Woodwind Musician, with Ayden Ludwig being selected as the Outstanding Brass Musician. Summer Loar was chosen as the Outstanding Percussion Musician.
Teresa Cude was selected for Outstanding Leadership and Pete Floyd was a natural choice for Most Spirited. Colby Murphy was chosen as the band’s Outstanding Marcher. Faith Chaney was picked as Outstanding Guard Member.
Jackson Efird was selected as Most Improved and Annika Thompson was chosen as the Rookie Of The Year.
