The following information was received from Mena Police Department for the week of January 12 – January 18, 2014. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
January 12, 2014
Officers responded to an alarm at a local antique/flea market. The key was found to be in the lock at the back door. The area was secured.
Frank Ray Wall, 63, of Mena was charged with DWI (drugs) and driving left-of-center. The arrest followed a traffic stop.
January 13, 2014
A local woman reported an attempted break-in at her home. Case is pending.
Report was taken of a break-in at the concession stand at the local sports complex. Case is pending further investigation.
January 14, 2014
A local man reported that someone had broken into his house and had stolen a laptop computer and some prescription medication. Case is pending.
Victor R. Diaz, 24, of Mena was charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor after a traffic stop.
Alberto Zamarippa, 39, of Mena was charged with filing a false report after several calls to a local residence.
January 15, 2014
A 13-year-old Mena boy was charged with shoplifting after a call to a local pharmacy.
A local woman reported that someone had stolen her wallet from her vehicle during the overnight hours. She related that she had forgotten to lock the car, and that the wallet and cash were missing. Case is pending.
Thomas Edward Burgell, 63, of Mena was arrested on several outstanding warrants. He was additionally charged with refusal to submit to arrest.
January 16, 2014
Officers responded to a call regarding an argument at a local residence. Neither party wished to press charges.
January 17, 2014
Report was taken of a verbal altercation between a man and a woman at their residence. Neither wished to press charges.
January 18, 2014
Report was taken of a disagreement between two local women over their children. The case was resolved and no charges were filed.
Michael E. Trivette, 22, and Benjamin C. Castleberry, 36, both of Mena were charged with disorderly conduct after a call to a local residence.
Devin Lee Ashley, 18, of DeQueen was charged with DWI after a traffic stop.
Officers completed an additional 10 reports and worked six accidents.
