MHS Bearcats Leave Tracks at Ashdown Relay

Mena High School Track and Field traveled to Ashdown last Thursday to compete in the Ashdown Panther/Domtar Relays where as a team, the high school girls took 4^th and the boys took 6^th. Head track coach Aaron Pennington, and athletic director Tim Harper said that the girls and boys both did very well and they were pleased with the performance of their athletes.

The following shows individual placing that helped to bring total team points up to place 4^th and 6^th in the team division.

Zach Jewell placed 2^nd in 100m dash, 1^st in 200m dash, 2^nd in long jump, and 3^rd in triple jump. Clint Buck placed 8^th in 1600m, 6^th in 3200m, and 8^th in pole vault. Anthony Kennedy placed 6^th in 800m, 7^th in 1600m. The boys’ 4x800m relay team took 8^th place.
In the girls division, Marley Jones placed 5^th in 200m dash and 3^rd in 400m dash. Jacquelyn Johnson placed 4^th in 400m dash. Abbie Smith placed 1^st in 800m, 2^nd in 1600m, and 3^rd in 3200m. Taylor Harper placed 7^th in 800m. Macey Baucum placed 6^th in 300m hurdles. The girls’ 4x100m relay team took 3^rd place, the 4x400m relay team took 4^th place, and the 4×800 relay team took 4^th.
