POLK COUNTY SHERIFF ISSUES PRESS RELEASE REGARDING SCAM:
The Polk County area is being targeted by scam artists. Local residents are receiving phone calls from a number with a 479 area code claiming that the contacted individual has a warrant for their arrest, and the caller is attempting to collect payment for those fines. This is a scam.
If a warrant has been issued for an arrest, you will be dealing with someone from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and not a person over the phone. This office does not attempt to collect money in that manner. If you receive one of these phone calls, do not give out any personal information. You may contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at 479-394-2511 with any questions or concerns regarding a warrant or one of these phone calls.
