Polk County Sheriff’s Department – April 21 – 27, 2014

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of April 21 – April 27, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

April 21, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 713 near the Posey Hollow community of being harassed by an acquaintance.  Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Highway 375 East near Mena.  Officers responded, one of the parties was transported to Mena Regional Health System.

Report from walk-in complainant of a domestic issue.  Officer advised complainant of legal options.

Arrested was Stephen M. Thorton, 26, of Hot Springs, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

April 22, 2014

Report from complainant of a missing person.  The person’s information has been entered into the Arkansas Crime Information Center.

Report from complainant on Polk 178 near Mena of the theft of a generator, valued at $200.00.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Bettina B. Lance, 52, of Mena, on a Warrant for Probation Violation.

April 23, 2014

Report from complainant on Polk 691 near the Nunley community of the theft of a purse containing $300.00 cash, debit cards,  driver’s license and social security card.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Steven C. Philpot, 29, of Mena, on a Charge of Harassing Communications.

April 24, 2014

Report of a disturbance on Polk 266 near the Hatton community led to the arrest of Travis W. Murphy, 26, of Cove, on a Charge of Domestic Battery 3rd Degree.

Report from walk-in complainant of a physical altercation.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested was Brooklin M. Hinkle, 25, of Mena, on a Charge of Absconding and a Warrant for Probation Violation.

Arrested by an officer with the Drug Task Force was Anderson D. Sessler, 36, of Mena, on two Warrants for Probation Violation.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was John P. Ramirez, 30, of Dequeen, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

April 25, 2014

Report from complainant on RCC Lane near Mena of being harassed by an unauthorized person on their property.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant of being threatened while riding an ATV on Polk 617 near the Board Camp community.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a disturbance on Polk 28 near Hatfield.  Officer responded, spoke with both parties.

April 26, 2014

Report of a runaway teenager led to a 16-year-old Vandervoort female being issued a Juvenile Citation for Disorderly Conduct.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report of a reckless driver on Highway 71 South near the Potter community led to the arrest of Joseph D. A. Randall, 18, of Cove, on Charges of DUI, Minor in Possession of Alcohol, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and No Liability Insurance.  Also arrested was Michael J. Todd, 19, of Wickes, on a Charge of Minor in Possession of Alcohol.

Arrested was Shawn A. Long, 37, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

April 27, 2014

Report of an accident on Polk 29 near Hatfield led to the arrest of Tyra N. Pate, 29, of Mena, on Charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident, No Liability Insurance and No Vehicle License.

Report of a cow versus vehicle accident on Polk 76 East near Mena.  Owner was contacted and took possession of livestock.

Arrested was James M. Howard, 21, of Mena, on a Charge of Possessing an Instrument of Crime.

Arrested by a law enforcement officer with the U. S. Forest Service was Gerardo G. Jimenez, 28, of Poteau, OK, on Charges of Speeding, No Driver’s License, No Liability Insurance and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Jimmy L. Faith, 25, of Wickes, on a Charge of Theft of Property.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked two vehicle accidents this week.
