Polk County Sheriff’s Department – December 9 – 29, 2013

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the weeks of December 9 – December 22, 2013.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

December 9, 2013

Report of a domestic disturbance on Polk 121 near Mena led to the arrest of Joshua O. Davidson, 24, of Mena, on Charges of Assault on a Family Member 3^rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 2^nd  Degree.

Report of a disturbance in the Polk County Detention Center led to the arrest of Brandon L. Everett, 22, of Mena, on a Charge of Battery 3^rd Degree.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Medcalf Lane in the Yocana community led to the arrest of Justin L. Wray, 31, of Mena, on a Charge of Disorderly Conduct.

Report of a structure fire on Polk 38 in the Potter community.  The house was as total loss.  Origin of the blaze is unknown.

December 10, 2013

Report from complainant on Stagecoach Lane near Mena of the theft of household goods, valued at $1,000.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Polk 29 near Hatfield led to the arrest of James D. Cochran, 30, of Hatfield, on Charges of Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Theft of Property.

Traffic stop on Highway 71 South near Cove led to the arrest of Taylor D. Dees, 21, of Cove, on Charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Terroristic Threatening and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.  Also arrested was Michael J. Todd, 18, of Wickes, on Charges of Public Intoxication, Possession of an Intoxicating Liquor by a Minor and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

December 11, 2013

Report of a disturbance on Polk 76 E near Mena.  Officer responded, one of the parties left the residence.

Arrested was Kenneth R. Crain, 38, of Jessieville, on a Body Attachment Warrant.

December 12, 2013

Arrested was Roy V. Lister, 41, of Cove, on Charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Report from complainant on Polk 38 near the Potter community of the theft of a firearm, valued at $200.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from a local college facility of a disorderly individual on their campus.  Officer responded, individual was transported to Mena Regional Health System.

Report from complainant on Polk 79 in the Shady community of the theft of camping supplies from a deer lease, valued at $900.00.  Investigation continues.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Felicia G. McKee, 32, of Cove, on Charges of DWI-Drugs, Driving Left of Center and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1^st Degree.

December 13, 2013

Report of a disturbance on Highway 8 East near the Board Camp community.  Suspect left the residence before officer arrived.

Report from complainant on Polk 76 East near Mena of the theft of prescription medications, valued at $100.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of forged checks led to a 16-year-old Hatfield male being issued Juvenile Citations for Forgery, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report from complainant on Polk 181 near Mena of the theft of electronics.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Butler Circle in Hatfield of a hit and run accident that caused $2,000.00 in damages.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Michael F. Baker, 34, of Mena, on Charges of Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Reporting Requirements and Registered Offender living too near a School, Park, Youth Center or Daycare.

December 14, 2013

Report of a vehicle fire on Polk 99 near Vandervoort.  The truck, valued at $6,000.00, was a total loss.

December 15, 2013

Report of a pursuit on Highway 270 that ended in the Eagleton area resulted in the arrest of Joseph A. Jester, 34, of Hot Springs, on Charges of Fleeing, Terroristic Threatening, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1^st Degree.  Also arrested was Lora L. Short, 24, of Hot Springs, on Charges of Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1^st Degree and a Yell County Warrant.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Kenneth W. Norman, 45, of Nashville, on Charges of Public Intoxication and No Liability Insurance.

December 16, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 46 near the Shady Grove community of the theft of jewelry and household items, totaling losses at $1,000.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of a disturbance on Polk 88 near the Ink community.  Officer responded, one of the parties agreed to leave the residence.

Arrested was Daniel R. Parnell, 36, of Gillham, on Warrants for Failure to Appear and two counts of Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Arrested was Malvin S. Chambers, 52, of Wickes, on a Charge of Disorderly Conduct.

December 17, 2013

Report from complainant on Hendricks Lane near Cove of dogs being shot.  Officer responded, advised both parties of legal options.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Isaac Juarez, 32, of Wickes, on Warrants for two counts of Failure to Appear.

Report from a local utility company of the theft of services.

Report of a disturbance at a business in Wickes.  Arrested was Malvin S. Chambers, 52, of Wickes, on Charges of Disorderly Conduct and Violation of a Protection Order.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Leslie A. Hunt, 35, of Gillham, on Charges of DWI and Failure to Obey a Stop Sign.

Arrested was Tyler J. Cornelius, 19, of Mena, on a Warrant for Probation Violation.

December 20, 2013

Report from complainant in the Hatfield area of the theft of a homemade trailer, valued at $400.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Highway 270 near the Acorn community of a lock cut off of a meter, totaling losses at $289.04.  

Report of an unruly 15-year-old Cove male led to the youth being issued a Juvenile Citation for Disorderly Conduct.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report of a disturbance on Highway 4 near Cove led to the arrest of Gregg M. Stanga, 40, of Cove, on a Charge of Criminal Mischief 2^nd Degree.  Additional information has been forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Joseph L. Cochran, 19, of Cove, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Arrested was Valentin S. Rodriguez, 44, of Wickes, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

December 21, 2013

Report of a vehicle accident on Polk 38 near the Potter community led to the arrest of Beth A. Schurman, 50, of Mena, on Charges of DWI-Drugs and Careless/Prohibited Driving.

Report of an explosion on Polk 88 near the Ink community.  Officer determined that a camper trailer had filled with propane gas and ignited.

Report from a business in Cove of damage to a propane refill station.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 647 near Mena of being harassed by an acquaintance who also destroyed $150.00 in clothing.  Both parties were advised to have no contact with the other.

December 22, 2013

Report of an abandoned wrecked vehicle on Polk 38 near the Potter community that was blocking the road.  Vehicle was towed from the scene.

December 23, 2013

Report from walk-in complainant of receiving a harassing phone call.  Investigation continues.

Report from walk-in complainant of the theft of a cell phone, valued at $500.00, a firearm and a tree stand.  The phone was retrieved from a suspect.  Investigation continues on remaining items.

December 24, 2013

Traffic stop on Highway 8 West near Mena led to the arrest of Christopher S. Davy, 22, of Mena, on a Charge of Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License.  Also arrested was Mark A. Romero, 22, of Mena, on a Charge of Possession of an Instrument of Crime.

Report from Polk County Detention Center of vandalism to the facility, totaling losses at $800.00.  Investigation continues.

December 27, 2013

Report from complainant on Highway 246 West near Hatfield of being harassed by an acquaintance.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested was Timothy C. Palmer, 31, of Mena, on Charges of Fleeing, DWI, Careless/Prohibited Driving, Speeding, Faulty Equipment, Improper Turn at an Intersection and Failure to Yield.

Arrested was Kenneth R. Weisinger, 24, of Mena, on Charges of Residential Burglary, Theft of Property, Breaking or Entering and Failure to Appear.

December 28, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 76 East near Mena of problems with stray dogs on their property.  Officer responded, advised owners of legal options.

Report from Clark County of a runaway juvenile that was supposedly in Polk County.  The juvenile was located and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and later released to the custody of a parent.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Dustin C. Hopper, 22, of Cove, on Charges of DWI-Drugs and Driving Left of Center.

Report of a possible assault victim at Mena Regional Health System.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.
